Phrasal verb of the week: Get something across (to someone) - To make someone understand, to make a message understood.
✨Example sentences✨
I always try to get it across to students that it’s more important to study OFTEN than to study LONG.
She tried to speak to me in Vietnamese, but she couldn’t get her message across (cuz my Vietnamese is terrible).
I told him nicely many times that I didn’t want to be his girlfriend. I couldn’t get it across to him until I was mean.
Notice that we can use this with or without "to someone." And this phrasal verb is better split. I mean, you have to say "get SOMETHING across" you can't say "get across something." And, like in the first example, you can say "get it across that..." and then state the message you want to be understood.
