Note: we usually say run across about finding things unexpectedly, and run into about meeting people unexpectedly.
I ran into a friend while I was out walking this morning.
I ran into my boss while I was skipping work.
I don’t want to run into anyone I know.
You can also physically, literally run across and run into something:
I used to run across the Narrows Bridge for exercise.
I wasn’t watching where I was going, and ran into a sign int he middle of the sidewalk.
